Trumbull County Coaches’ Agency Fund Supports Student-Athletes

With a history stretching back more than 50 years, the impact of the Trumbull County Coaches Association is hard to quantify just in numbers.

Today, it counts more than 300 active coaches among its membership and it hosts annual ceremonies to recognize Football Player of the Year, Basketball Player of the Year Award for both boys’ and girls’ teams, and a Coach of the Year for every sport played in the county.

Trace that back to the association’s creation in the 1970s and the number of people who’ve been impacted by TCCA can easily reach the tens of thousands.

And a decade ago, the group took another step in its work to support student-athletes: it opened an agency fund at the Community Foundation. The fund supports the Association’s work, including their ability to award scholarships to student-athletes.

“We are certainly proud of our efforts to assist students, athletes, and coaches for the past 50 years, but we knew we could have an even greater impact on the lives of young people in Trumbull County,” says President Dan Williams.  “Our traditions are second to none and these scholarships are a welcome part of that.”

Since the Trumbull County Coaches Association opened its agency fund at the Community Foundation in 2013, the group has awarded more than $50,000 in scholarships.

“Creating this fund ensured that we can have a greater impact on our community by assisting even more college- bound students than we already have, while also making sure that we can continue these scholarships for years to come,” Williams says.
