Young Philanthropist Fund

Exploring Philanthropy, Creating Impact

Philanthropy will be carried on by the next generation, and the Young Philanthropist Fund is a tool to help support the passing of the torch. This permanent endowment gets young community members involved directly in each step of the grantmaking process in order to highlight philanthropy and the impact it can have in the Mahoning Valley.

Growth

Along with each individual gift, the Fund continues growing with proceeds from the annual 25 Under 35 event.

Shaping the Future Together

The Young Philanthropist Fund was established in March 2006, and representatives from the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals’ Board of Directors and G.I.V.E.S. Committee help guide the fund and its priorities.

Members of the committee participate in the grantmaking process from start to finish – setting distribution goals, calling for grant applications, reviewing funding requests and awarding grants. Since opening, the Fund has awarded close to $50,000 in grants to local projects.

To build the Fund’s giving capacity, the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals host the 25 Under 35 Awards, honoring inspiring young professionals living and working in the Valley. The event proceeds, along with individual contributions, grow the Young Philanthropist Fund and improve the fund’s ability to respond to community needs through increased grantmaking.

Visit MVYP’s website for details on the G.I.V.E.S. Committee and 25 Under 35 Awards.
