Youngstown/Warren, Ohio – The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley today announced the addition of three staff members.
Linda Kostka was named coordinator of development and donor services. Casey Bertolette was named coordinator of supporting organizations and grant-making, and Janet Byrne was named office manager. The three fill new positions created after three previous posts became vacant earlier this year.
“We have an impressive new team with excellent experience and skills,” said Shari Harrell, Community Foundation president. “This gives us a golden opportunity to elevate our role as a leading advocate for philanthropy and good works in the Mahoning Valley.”
Kostka will lead fundraising and donor relations activities for the foundation. She brings nearly 20 years of fundraising experience, most recently as director of development for the Mill Creek Metropolitan Park District, where she spearheaded fundraising and marketing efforts.
Prior to joining the park district, Kostka was regional director of development for Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio. Previously, she was associate director at Second Harvest Food Bank. Before her development career, she was an administrative manager with Society National Bank and a branch manager with Western Reserve Bank, both in the Youngstown area.
Kostka holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Youngstown State University and is certified as a fundraising executive by CFRE International. She is a Struthers resident.
Bertolette, meanwhile, will coordinate grant awards and the foundation’s work with its three supporting organizations: the Western Reserve Health Foundation, the Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation and the William Swanston Charitable Fund. She was most recently development director at Beatitude House in Youngstown, where she led fundraising and public relations activities. Previously, she was development associate at Beatitude House.
Bertolette holds a bachelor of arts degree from Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa. She is a member of the board of directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Mahoning/Shenango Chapter. She lives in Poland.
Byrne, as office manager, will be responsible for administrative functions. She was most recently executive administrative assistant at First Place Bank, where she had served for more than 30 years in multiple administrative and support positions. Byrne is a Liberty resident.
