Inspiring. Educating. Empowering. Women are not just a leading force in philanthropy, women are its future. As philanthropists, women have an unprecedented opportunity to steer the course of the Mahoning Valley’s future by changing not only what is funded, but how money is raised and distributed.
The Women’s Fund at the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley serves to expand women’s philanthropy while bringing attention and funding to a segment of the population that has traditionally been underserved. The Fund will be an investment in the economic development and stability of women and girls, ensuring the vitality and vibrancy of our community. It will be permanently endowed, and sustained by pooling gifts from philanthropic-minded individuals, growing those gifts and reinvesting in the community through thoughtful and targeted grant making or partnerships.
In June of 2002, a contribution was made in recognition of the retirement of Barbara Amstutz to establish the Women’s Fund at the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. In the spring of 2015, a plan was created to increase the presence and magnitude of The Fund with the goal of becoming the area’s primary resource for focused grant making for local women and girls.
