Established in 1999, the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley was created to improve, strengthen and enhance the quality of life within Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.
The Foundation allows donors to leave a lasting legacy within their respective place of birth, work or residence. The Foundation is tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) and all gifts are fully tax-deductible.
A Board of Directors consisting of community leaders chosen for their philanthropic commitment and knowledge of our region guides the Foundation.
The primary purpose of the Community Foundation is to develop, manage and distribute charitable funding to meet existing and changing community needs.
The Foundation distributes grants based on the earnings of its permanent endowment fund created from charitable gifts.
The concept of the Community Foundation is founded in the idea that everyone can be a philanthropist; even people with limited means can give money to their community.
